Guest Professor viola

Alfred Lipka

Born in the Bohemian town of Aussig/Elbe, he completed his violin and viola studies in Erfurt, Weimar and Leipzig. In 1955 he had his first engagement at the "Landeskapelle Eisenach" as first concert-master/konzertmeister?. From 1958 to 1963 he was viola-soloist with the "Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Leipzig" and from 1963-1975 first viola-soloist with the "Deutsche Staatsoper Berlin" and member of the string quartet of the "Deutsche Staatsoper". From 1975 to 2002 he was professor at the "Academy for Music 'Hanns Eisler'" in Berlin and gave concerts as soloist and chamber musician in almost all European countries and in Japan. He held international master classes and was a jury-member in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Hungary, Great Britain, Finland and Greece. His students are not only first viola-soloists with six leading German orchestras but also work as professor at three German music academies. Some of his students are winners of international viola competitions such as Markneukirchen, Budapest and Geneva.
