Michelangelo Galeati
The conductor and cellist Michelangelo Galeati studied composition and conducting with Piero Bellugi and Dario Lucantoni and cello with Rocco Filippini and Amedeo Baldovino. He graduated in S. Cecilia Conservatory of Music Roma, and later in the prestigious Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia. His studies include also musicology and history of music in which he graduated in University of Bologna and in University of Tor Vergata Roma. His activity brought him in the major Italian halls (Sala Verdi Milano, Accademia Santa Cecilia Roma, Teatro san Carlo di Napoli, Istituzione sinfonica Abruzzese, Giovine Orchestra Genovese, Maggio Musicale fiorentino, orchestra Verdi di Milano, Auditorium Cariplo Milano, Teatro Comunale de L'Aquila, Filarmonica Laudamo di Messina, Nuova Consonanza a Roma, Teatro Paisiello di Lecce, Teatro dell'Opera di Sanremo, Teatro Politeama Palermo, Teatro Carlo Felice Genova, Teatro Arcimboldi Milano, Teatro T.E.A.M. di Bari, Teatro delle Celebrazioni Bologna) and in France (Avignon Festival, Auditorium de Boulogne-Paris), United Kingdom (London GSMD and Aberdeen Festival), Portugal (Lisbon Royal Palace), Switzerland, China, Hungary, Spain, Turkey (Ankara Symphonic Orchestra Hall), Finland, Japan, Germany (Festwochen Herrenhausen, Hannover, Philharmonie Berlin), Austria (University of Graz), Colombia, Canada (Toronto University of Music), China and Russia (S. Pietroburg Philarmionic:, P. I. Tchaikovsky Conservatory of Music, Moscow), Porto (ESMAE), Malta (Teatro Astra), Vilnius (Ciurlionis Theatre Lithuania and Philharmoni Hall).
He recorded for Fonit-Cetra and Musikstrasse, performing also premiere recordings of contemporary composers such as Clementi, Bussotti, Colasanti, Berio and Pennisi. His participation to TV and Radio program in the main Italian networks such as RAI1, RAI2, RAI3, Radio Vaticana and Telemontecarlo is frequent and his compositions had several public broadcast. Among them, Fantamusicasìa, for 2 actors and orchestra, which had several performances including Parco della Musica of Roma, Teatro dell'Opera di San Remo, Teatro Comunale dell'Aquila.
Since long, Michelangelo Galeati has dedicated himself in rediscovering, reviewing and publishing Italian non edited music of Rossini, Bottesini and Mercadante and others composers of the XIX century with performances Europe and South America. His conducting activity brought him in a long tourneè in China, taking turns with the conductor Lior Shambadal, with whom Michelangelo Galeati is sharing a didactic and performing activity in masterclasses and concerts. Among latest performances, concerts with Istituzione Sinfonica Abruzzese, Pietà dei Turchini in Napoli, full opera Puccini's Gianni Schicchi, in Vilnius, sala Dei Greci in Roma and a lyric Gala with OFB in Colombia.
Actually Michelangelo Galeati is engaged in a long tourneè with the well known Italian actor Gigi Proietti performing Prokofieff's Peter and the Wolf, Shostakovich stage music and Rota most celebrated melodies.
In 2013 he took part as artistic director and conductor to the European Project "Phoenix" with the purpose to edit and perform the unpublished Donizetti opera score "Alina, la Regina di Golconda" in cooperation with 5 European Institutions. The project included also the editing of the score and libretto.
His latest performances as Opera conductor include Puccini Gianni Schicchi, Boheme, Madama Butterfly, Verdi Rigoletto, Traviata, Mozart Così fan tutte, H. Krasa Brundibar (composed and performer in Nazi concentration camp), Donizetti Elisir d'amore, Don Pasquale and Alina la Regina di Golconda.
Since 2007, Michelangelo Galeati is regurally invited as host condutor with Berliner Symphonikern Orchestra in Philharmonie Hall.
In the last weeks Michelangelo Galeati conducted in Trier (Germany) a concert dedicated to Italian composers and celebratin Verdi's anniversary with the Orchestra of the Trier Theater.
Actually he is professor at the prestigious Conservatorio San Pietro a Majella, Napoli.
