Yalchin Adigezalov

EDUCATION:
Yalchin Adigezalov, the representative of the third generation of an Azerbaijani family famous for its involvement in music, was born in Baku in 1959. In 1982, Mr. Adigezalov graduated from the Azerbaijan State Conservatory as a major in piano. From 1984 to 1989, Mr. Adigezalov studied in the St. Petersburg State Conservatory in the conducting class, which was headed by the celebrated professor, Ilya Musin. From 1991 to 1992, he studied at the Vienna Academy of Music and Fine Arts and received his master’s degree in conducting from Professor Karl Oesterricher.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS:
In the winter of 1988, while studying in the St. Petersburg State Conservatory, Yalchin Adigezalov conducted the opera “Faust” by Ghunou. In 1989, he received the honorary degree and award from St. Petersburg State Conservatory for conducting the opera “Eugenie Onegin” by Tchaikovsky. In 1991, Mr. Adigezalov was appointed the Music Director and Chief Conductor of the Baku city “Gaya” Chamber Orchestra. In 1993, he received the National Award of Azerbaijan, “The Best Conductor of the Year”. From 1991 till 1998, Mr. Adigezalov was the Music Director and Chief Conductor of the Azerbaijan State Symphony Orchestra. Since 2000, he has been the Conductor of the State Opera and Ballet Theatre of Azerbaijan. Since 2002, Yalchin Adigezalov has been the professor of the Conducting Class of the State Musical Academy of Azerbaijan. In 2007, he became the Honored Worker of the Arts of Azerbaijan.

APPEARANCES AND PERFORMANCES:
Since 1991, Maestro Adigezalov has been invited as a guest conductor in Ukraine, Austria, Russia, Hungary, Belgium, Turkey, Romania, Spain, and the United States of America. In 1991 and 1992, he was the Music Director of the Mozart Music Festival and coordinated the festival jointly with the Austrian government. In 1998, he was invited as a Guest Chief Conductor of the Russian State Symphony Orchestra of Radio and TV. From 2001 till 2004, Mr. Adigezalov was appointed the Conductor of the Istanbul State Opera and Ballet. During this period, he directed the following performances: “Legend of Love” by Melikov, “Samson and Dalila” by Saint-Saens, “Don Kichot” by Minkus, and “Madam Butterfly” by Puccini. In 2003, The International Opera Festival in Aspendos was opened with the opera, “Prince Igor” by Borodin, which was directed by Dmitry Bertman and conducted by Yalchin Adigezalov. The opera became a great event for the cultural life of Turkey. Since 2001, Mr. Adigezalov has been involved in performances of Moscow Gelikon Opera, conducting opera “Carmen” by Bizet, “Imaginary Gardener” by Mozart, and “Eugenie Onegin” by Tchaikovsky.

Maestro Adigezalov has performed with outstanding soloists, amongst who were M. Rastropovich, N. Petrov, S. Stadler, I. Monigetti, F. Galati, I. Biret, B. Berezovsky, D. Kogan, and many others. Yalchin Adigezalov has released eleven compact discs in the United States, Turkey, and England, with the Great Symphony Orchestra named after Tchaikovsky and the Azerbaijan State Symphony Orchestra.
