PATRICIA PAGNY

Since her impressive interpretations of Bartók´s Sonata for two pianos and percussion and Debussy´s Preludes at the Spoleto Festival of The Two Worlds, Patricia Pagny has received regular invitations to play in Europe, Japan, Canada and in the United States at the most prestigious concert halls : Chicago (Orchestra Hall), Nakaniida (Bach Hall)Paris (Salle Pleyel, Salle Gaveau, Auditorium du Louvre), Zurich (Tonhalle), Munich (Herkulessaal), Basel (Stadtcasino), Calgary (Jack Singer Hall), Parma (Teatro Regio), Berlin (Philharmonie), Catania (Teatro Bellini),... She has appeared as soloist with such orchestras as the Chicago Symphony, Philharmonia Hungarica, Sinfonia Varsovia, Arturo Toscanini Symphony, the Münchner Rundfunkorchester from the Bayerischer Rundfunk, the Festival Strings Lucerne, Strasbourg Philharmonic, Québec Symphony, Istanbul State Symphony, Slovac Radio Symphony Orchestra Bratislava, Orchestre Lamoureux, Zürcher Kammerorchester, Kammerorchester Heilbronn, Ensemble Orchestral de Paris, Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne, Dresdner Kapellsolisten (Soloists of the Staatskapelle), Orchestre Colonne .

She also performed in recitals and chamber music concerts at the Spoleto, Bologna, Zurich, Montreux, Colmar, Strasbourg, Kuhmo, Divonne and Menuhin/Gstaad Festivals, the Società dei Concerti in Milan and the Primavera Concertistica in Lugano with well-known colleagues and conductors including Sir Georg Solti , Lord Yehudi Menuhin, Saschko Gawriloff, Uri Segal, Marcello Viotti, Hans Graf, Theodor Guschlbauer, Rudolf Baumgartner, Wolf-Dieter Hauschild, Siegfried Palm, Kyoko Shikata, Richard Hickox, Howard Griffiths, Gérard Poulet, Heinz Fricke. Patricia Pagny won the Alessandro Casagrande International Piano Competition in Terni, Italy, the Pembaur-Preis Bern, Switzerland, and the Rollino Piano Prize. In addition, she was a finalist at the Marsala Piano Competition and Concours Clara Haskil, and was also laureate of the Action Musicale Philip Morris, France. She has made both radio and television recordings. Her compact discs by STRADIVARIUS, NOVALIS, GUTINGI, MGB and GALLO include piano pieces by Scarlatti, Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Schubert, Schumann, Brahms, Debussy, Othmar Schoeck, Arthur Honegger and Paul Glass. During the next seasons she will record works by Dohnányí and several italian composers from the 20. century. The critics describe her playing as vigorous and very individualistic. Thanks to her incredible manual agility, the music lives from inside.

And, "... by Patricia Pagny the piano technique pushed to its highest level fuses with the music she performs...Virtuosity, in that case, doesn´t seem to be superficial, but it is used as a way of expression..." Der Bund, Bern. "A second culminating moment [of the Zurich Festival 97] was recital by pianist Patricia Pagny, who appeared in Zurich between two renowned colleagues, and reproduced romantic piano playing in the best manner. She is in a way a "lioness of the keyboard" like Martha Argerich, even though she is just thirty years old. She dared and took risks up to the limits, against any saturation and beaten track." Broadcast REFLEXE by Swiss Radio DRS Zurich July 21, 1997 The Japanese CHOPIN PIANO MUSIC MAGAZINE chose Patricia Pagny as one of the pianists to be heard in Japan during the 21. Century : " Professor Takehisa Hasegawa recommends Patricia Pagny, Maria Joâo Pires and Olli Mustonen. Patricia Pagny´s interpretations show a very interesting personality, attractive and warm. I think she always plays with an high ideal, a pure adoration for music. We hope to listen to her concerts in Japan very soon." "I listened to the French pianist Patricia Pagny, because I promised a friend that I would. It was in Paris; I was tired; the last thing I wanted to do was hear another pianist. But when she started playing, I suddenly sat up. Ah, this is good ! About six months later I had a cancellation in Chicago, and gave her a chance. That was very successful" . So Sir Georg Solti about pianist Patricia Pagny, who appeared as soloist in the United States with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra conducted by the Maestro. The audience and critics, by their warm reception, seconded Solti´s opinion of her. "...Surely we will be hearing from this fine pianist again..." wrote the Chicago Tribune. "Miss Pagny is a most talented musician and deserves all possible encouragement to develop her career" said Sir Georg Solti, who invited her again to perform at the prestigious Wigmore Hall in London and at the Zürcher Festspiele 97. Patricia Pagny has studied with Nikita Magaloff, Maria Joâo Pires, Paul Badura-Skoda.
